Realtek High Definition Audio Problem

Like the fool I am, I decided to buy a computer which has this trouble-
causing softtware on it. I have Realtek HD Audio in the Device
Manager, but to my *surprise* it did not install yielding the message
"Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure!"

The drivers are not installed as a result and I have no audio device.
Its part of an ASUS motherboard. I can cannot remove the driver from
the DM but it gives me this nonsense saying that its not possible to
remove it because an audio card (which doesn't even work at the
minute!) is nevertheless required for booting the OS!

Before you suggest to me to install the MS UAA driver, I have checked
my device manager, and according to the DM, I already have a MS UAA
Bus High Definition Audio Driver. Perhaps this is defective too?

RE: Realtek High Definition Audio Problem

Windows or XP,doesnt have drivers for realtec, nor can one download them
from windows downloads. The reason being, realtec doesnt have thier drivers/
software digitally signed by WHQL...Youre best bet, install the chipset
utility from
AMD or INTEL etc, then install the realtec drivers/software from asus cd,or
realtec.com..Better yet,install a PCI sound card,on board video/audio sucks
and uses too many resources....

Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers? Take the motherboard
model to the ASUS support site and download the relevant board-level
drivers, then install them. If they're already installed, just do an
in-place reinstall.

After that, you should be able to successfully install the other drivers and
the audio should work.
