| I have a TC1000 compaq pc tablet. I have had it for maybe a month now and about a week ago i switched it on and the screen went blank and in the top left hand corner it said 'operating system not found' and will not proceed. I have tried everything i can think of and searched high and low and cant fix it. Can anyone help, i really need to to work. |

| Sorry to read about the troubles with your TC1000. This sounds like a hardware issue that will require you to do some troubleshooting. Start by determining if the hard drive is being recognized by the system. Check the POST and the BIOS for information. Try to boot from an alternative device and then see if you can then read files from it. For example, boot from the CD and then see if you can pull off the files. Then reformat the drive by reinstalling the OS.

| I would.... but we were having some trouble with trying to network it when we first got it. We dont have a CD drive yet and we couldnt figure out how to network it to my actual PC so i dont know what to do. |

Does the drive spin up at boot time and does the POST see the drive?

| sorry i am entirely computer illiterate.... what exactly is the POST and the BIOS and i have no idea if the drive spins up.... sorry.... i have extreme basic knowledge when it comes to computers  |

POST is the power on self test. There are messages showing on the screen at the time you start the machine - these are some of the human readable POST information. You'll want to look for information about the hard drive. Since you aren't experienced then take your time and read some of the general hardware troubleshooting | information sites on the web. Learn as much as you can. Good luck.
